When you visit Levy Dermatology, a member of our staff will greet you. In an effort to make your visit a pleasant one, we gather as much of your information as we can when you call to make your appointment. If there are still forms to fill out or gaps in our information when you arrive, our staff will work with you to complete your file.

Our nursing staff will escort you to one of our patient rooms. To prepare for your visit with your Board-Certified Dermatologist or Advanced Practice Provider, your nurse may ask you a few questions.

During your appointment, your provider will develop a customized treatment plan to suit your needs.

ALAN LEVY – MD, CEO

Dr. Levy attended Duke University and obtained his Medical Doctor degree from the University of Tennessee, where he also trained as a Resident in Dermatology. He has performed thousands of cases of Mohs surgery and is an expert in reconstruction of surgical wounds and skin and soft tissue tumor removal. He performs an extensive array of cosmetic procedures, including injectables, laser surgery, and radiofrequency-assisted liposuction. He served as Chief Resident in his final year and then trained as a Fellow in Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Dr. Levy specializes in surgical and cosmetic dermatology. In addition to being the founder and medical director of Levy Dermatology, Dr. Levy serves as an Allergan physician trainer where he teaches and advises doctors nation-wide on the proper methods of injecting Botox®, Juvéderm®, and Voluma®.

Dr. Levy is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and the American College of Mohs Surgery. He is a member of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, and the Tennessee and Memphis Dermatology Societies. He is a past member of the Board of the Tennessee Dermatology Society.

Shira Levy attended Florida State University and concentrated her studies in Business with an emphasis on Risk Management and Insurance. She also spent a semester studying International Business and Finance in Paris, France. After graduating with high honors from Florida State University business school, she returned home and earned her Master’s.

Since 2012, Shira has brought her experience and organizational skills to Levy Dermatology. She entered the medical practice as Human Resource Manager and was then promoted to Chief Operating Officer.

Shira has led the growth of Levy Dermatology’s medical practice and expanded it to multiple locations. Under her leadership, Levy Dermatology was a finalist for the 2018 Memphis Business Journal Small Business and Commercial Appeal Memphis Most Award finalist multiple times. Shira is a member of the Tennessee Women Leaders Association and a member of the association of Dermatology Administrators and Managers.

Dr. Danielle Levine is a recent faculty member and instructor at Harvard Medical School. She attended Tufts University School of Medicine, where she graduated with honors. She then completed her Residency Training in Dermatology at the Harvard Medical School, Massachusetts General Hospital Residency Program, and subsequently was on staff at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Dana Farber Cancer Institute.

Dr. Levine has operated specialty clinics in melanoma and pigmented lesions, high-risk skin cancer, cosmetic dermatology, and surgical dermatology. She has authored and won awards for her many publications and has lectured internationally and nationally at dermatology, surgery, oncology, and internal medicine conferences.

To provide high-quality dermatological care, Dr. Levine stays up to date with the most recent advances in skin research. She values patient-centered care and uses this philosophy to help build partnerships with her patients. She believes in focusing on each individual’s specific needs to provide the most comprehensive dermatological care possible.

Dr. Levine is Board-Certified by the American Board of Dermatology and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. She is a member of the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, Women’s Dermatology Society, and the American Medical Association. Dr. Huber specializes in surgical dermatology specifically related to the detection and removal of skin cancers, including the use of Mohs Micrographic Surgery.

Dr. Meredith Wagner graduated summa cum laude with honors and was the valedictorian of her class at Florida State University. She then completed her Doctor of Medicine at the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine, where she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. Dr. Wagner completed her internship in Internal Medicine and Dermatology residency at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. She served as a Chief Resident during her final year of training.

She has worked in private practice specializing in medical, surgical, and cosmetic Dermatology, including adult and pediatric care, before joining Levy Dermatology.

To provide evidence-based and holistic care to all individuals regardless of age, ethnicity, gender identity, or socioeconomic status by establishing a positive, trusting patient/physician relationship.

Dr. Wagner is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology. She served as the Chair of the American Academy of Dermatology Resident and Fellows Committee and currently serves as a member of the American Academy of Dermatology Young Physicians Committee. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and is a member of the Society for Pediatric Dermatology and the American Medical Association. She is a member of the Skin of Color Society and serves on the patient education committee.

She completed her residency training in Dermatology at Johns Hopkins. Dr. Jefferson also completed a fellowship in Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology at the University of British Columbia, a Nail Disease and Nail Surgery Fellowship in Portland, OR, and a Clinical Research and Clinical Trials Fellowship for the Johns Hopkins Department of Dermatology.

Dr. Jefferson specializes in Mohs surgery, nail disease, and medical and cosmetic dermatology. She presents research and lectures on her specializations both nationally and internationally.

While involved in clinical research at Johns Hopkins, she served on the Council of Science and Research for the American Academy of Dermatology. Dr. Jefferson is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, a Fellow of the American College of Mohs Surgery, and a member of the Council for Nail Disorders.

Lauren received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, and she earned a Master of Science in Nursing from Vanderbilt University.

Prior to becoming a nurse practitioner, Lauren was a Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) in the intensive care unit at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis for more than six years.

Lauren made her passion for dermatology a reality by joining Levy Dermatology in 2015. She is committed to the highest level of care for her patients and is thrilled to be caring for medical and cosmetic dermatology patients.

In addition to her AGACNP certification, she is a certified CCRN by the American Association of Critical Care Nurses and was awarded the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses in 2011 while working for Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis.

He performs an extensive array of cosmetic procedures, including injectables, laser surgery, and radiofrequency-assisted liposuction. He served as Chief Resident in his final year and then trained as a Fellow in Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Dr. Levy specializes in surgical and cosmetic dermatology. In addition to being the founder and medical director of Levy Dermatology, Dr. Levy serves as an Allergan physician trainer where he teaches and advises doctors nation-wide on the proper methods of injecting Botox®, Juvéderm®, and Voluma®.

Dr. Levy is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and the American College of Mohs Surgery. He is a member of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, and the Tennessee and Memphis Dermatology Societies. He is a past member of the Board of the Tennessee Dermatology Society.

Shira Levy

SHIRA LEVY – COO

Shira Levy attended Florida State University and concentrated her studies in Business with an emphasis on Risk Management and Insurance. She also spent a semester studying International Business and Finance in Paris, France. After graduating with high honors from Florida State University business school, she returned home and earned her Master’s.

Since 2012, Shira has brought her experience and organizational skills to Levy Dermatology. She entered the medical practice as Human Resource Manager and was then promoted to Chief Operating Officer.

Shira has led the growth of Levy Dermatology’s medical practice and expanded it to multiple locations. Under her leadership, Levy Dermatology was a finalist for the 2018 Memphis Business Journal Small Business and Commercial Appeal Memphis Most Award finalist multiple times. Shira is a member of the Tennessee Women Leaders Association and a member of the association of Dermatology Administrators and Managers.

Danielle Levine

DANIELLE LEVINE – MD

Dr. Danielle Levine is a recent faculty member and instructor at Harvard Medical School. She attended Tufts University School of Medicine, where she graduated with honors. She then completed her Residency Training in Dermatology at the Harvard Medical School, Massachusetts General Hospital Residency Program, and subsequently was on staff at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Dana Farber Cancer Institute.

Dr. Levine has operated specialty clinics in melanoma and pigmented lesions, high-risk skin cancer, cosmetic dermatology, and surgical dermatology. She has authored and won awards for her many publications and has lectured internationally and nationally at dermatology, surgery, oncology, and internal medicine conferences.

To provide high-quality dermatological care, Dr. Levine stays up to date with the most recent advances in skin research. She values patient-centered care and uses this philosophy to help build partnerships with her patients. She believes in focusing on each individual’s specific needs to provide the most comprehensive dermatological care possible.

Dr. Levine is Board-Certified by the American Board of Dermatology and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. She is a member of the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, Women’s Dermatology Society, and the American Medical Association. JOHN HUBER – MD

Dr. Huber graduated from the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee, and obtained his Medical Doctor degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, Tennessee, where he also completed his residency training and obtained his Fellowship in Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology.

Dr. Huber specializes in surgical dermatology specifically related to the detection and removal of skin cancers, including the use of Mohs Micrographic Surgery.

MEREDITH WAGNER – MD

Dr. Meredith Wagner graduated summa cum laude with honors and was the valedictorian of her class at Florida State University. JULIE JEFFERSON – MD

Dr. Jefferson is Board-Certified by the American Board of Dermatology. Dr. Jefferson earned her Doctorate of Medicine from the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Cash graduated magna cum laude with Bachelor’s degrees in both Biology and Biochemistry from LaGrange College. DEBORAH HORWITZ – PA-C

Deborah graduated from American University in Washington DC with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Communication. This degree was followed by completing Baylor College of Medicine’s Physician Assistant program, where she received a Master’s degree.

Deborah specializes in general adult and pediatric dermatology. She also teaches Dermatology and Pediatrics as an Assistant Professor at the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center.

Deborah practices evidence-based medical dermatology. Many of her patients have already tried multiple over-the-counter treatments that haven’t given them the results they are looking for. By coming to a specialist, her patients receive specialized care and attention and recommended treatments that are FDA approved. She believes that patient education is also an important part of the provider’s role.

She is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and is a member of both The American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants.

LAUREN PLYLER – AGACNP

Lauren received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, and she earned a Master of Science in Nursing from Vanderbilt University.

Prior to becoming a nurse practitioner, Lauren was a Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) in the intensive care unit at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis for more than six years.

Lauren made her passion for dermatology a reality by joining Levy Dermatology in 2015. She is committed to the highest level of care for her patients and is thrilled to be caring for medical and cosmetic dermatology patients.
